Colombian National Strike

Nearly half of Colombia’s population went under the poverty line due to Covid 19. A tax reform was put in place to address economic deficits created by the pandemic. The reform however raised prices of basic goods, affecting Colombia’s economically disenfranchised the hardest. In reaction, massive anti-government demonstrations began in April of 2021 and brought about topics of inequality, police brutality, and overall corruption of the Colombian government. The strikes are still on-going and the photos depict demonstrations from all over the country.
